Overview: Congregation Beth Israel (CBI) in Scottsdale, Arizona is a 600-family Reform congregation established in 1920, the most historic congregation in Arizona. Our congregation aims to create a community filled with meaningful experiences and relationships. In addition to our congregation’s campus in Scottsdale, which includes the Chanen Preschool, Haberkorn Religious School, and Stein Family Mikvah, we also own and operate the Beth Israel Memorial Cemetery in downtown Phoenix and Camp Daisy & Harry Stein in Prescott, Arizona. We are seeking a warm, welcoming, and organized person to join our Youth Education teams as Youth Education Administrative Assistant supporting the Youth Education and Engagement department. We are looking for a candidate who is comfortable interacting and communicating with parents, students, and teachers and is able to manage multiple projects and tasks. This person should also possess strong computer skills, be proficient with Microsoft Office productivity tools and an aptitude to quickly learn systems and processes. This position is a part-time position, approximately twenty-five hours per week. Thursday evening (4:30 – 8:30 PM) and Sunday morning (8:00 AM – 12:30 PM) hours will be required to support Youth Education programs during the school year. This position will report to the Manager of Member and Administrative Services with dotted line reporting to the Director of Youth Education and Engagement.
Required Skill Set: Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational/management and collaboration skills A strong sense of self and a high level of emotional maturity Agility with multi-tasking, managing multiple projects, and attention to detail A reliable individual who can work independently but also as part of a team, committed to customer service Comfort working in a synagogue community comprised of many members Position Responsibilities: • Administrative support for the Education and Youth department including managing the school calendar, maintaining student data and records, and facilitating effective communication. • Support families and students as primary contact for enrollment, events, communication, and other important information. • Support faculty in preparation of materials and distribution of supplies. • Work with other members of the staff to communicate and secure facility setups, logistic needs, and any special requirements to support events and programs • Support special programming including teacher orientation, family initiatives, High Holy Day support, fund raisers etc. • Assist with financial processes such as payroll, scholarship tracking, etc. • Maintain website, social media, and other needed communications
Position Requirements: • Associate degree from an accredited college or university preferred • 3+ years’ previous administrative experience• Experience in a synagogue and/or education environment desired • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
