The Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Phoenix (JCRC) is offering a Communications and Public Diplomacy Fellowship opportunity for the Fall for recent graduates. The JCRC conducts advocacy, interfaith outreach, and community bridge-building on behalf of the Jewish community. The fellowship will offer training in communications, social media outreach, and communal leadership. The Fellow will engage in research, meeting reports, writing blog articles, bylined or ghost-written newspaper articles, press releases, letters, and social media messages, as well as other projects to be determined.

Candidates should be college graduates who are interested in communications, journalism and/or communal leadership. The fellowship is virtual, and the candidate should expect to work from home. Successful candidates will be independent self-starters who are strong writers, and can use such platforms as Microsoft Word, Twitter and Facebook.

Time commitments entail 10-12 hours per week for three months, with the possibility of an extension. This is a paid fellowship.

Congregation Or Tzion is an almost 500 family Conservative congregation in Scottsdale, Arizona whose Youth Department currently encompasses three youth groups for kids in 4th-12th grade. We educate our youth about Judaism and themselves in an informal environment, helping them grow as Jewish individuals and fostering lasting Jewish friendships.  

In addition to our local chapter, each of our youth groups are associated with our region, Far West, and the international order of youth programs for the Conservative movement. We have programming on weekday evenings and weekends inside and outside our building. Programs are planned by a board of USYers with the help of our USY advisor and Youth Director.

The Or Tzion Youth Department is seeking a part-time USY Youth Advisor whose overall responsibilities will be to help coordinate and supervise all three of our youth programs, while serving as a positive role model in Jewish identity building.  

This position requires an average of approximately 20 hours of work per month (some months may be more and others less) and runs from August through June each year. Salary is paid bi-weekly and is very competitive.  The Youth Advisor reports to the Youth Director. 

Specific responsibilities include:
-Assist the Youth Director with planning, coordinating, and supervising youth activities for the chapter, including administrative tasks such as helping to coordinate extra parent chaperones as needed, collect paperwork from participants, and taking attendance at events.  
-Staff regional events and conventions as needed, which may include weekend travel across Arizona, Nevada and California. 
-Attend synagogue wide events on behalf of the Youth Department as needed. 
- Meet with the Youth Director on a monthly basis.
-Develop working relationships with youth, parents, and synagogue leaders. 
-Ensure safety, security, and appropriate behavior of children at all events
-Promote ruach (spirit) and Jewish Conservative values at events.

Qualifications
-Proven event coordination skills and ability to serve as a role model and mentor for youth
-Have experience with youth and teens, preferably through youth group or camp experience
-Familiarity with Conservative Judaism.  
-Ability to work as a team with professionals and volunteers to coordinate and supervise synagogue programs
-Strong communication and organization skills

Do you love working with kids? Temple Emanuel of Tempe is looking for a few facilitators for our 3rd-5th grade in-person High Holy Day youth programs! You would be responsible for guiding our students in pre-prepared programs on the first day of Rosh HaShanah (September 7th) and Yom Kippur (September 16th). Our program runs from 10:30am-12:30pm, and we would ask you to arrive 30 minutes early to help setup and stay 30 minutes after to help take down. We will have safety precautions in place, and are asking that you be vaccinated in order to apply.
